The only person in NewEngland happy that day was Bill Buckner. Not that it's even on the same maginitude. He always got a bad rap, because the Sox had other chances of winning the W.S after he made his famous error.
Right now the Pats have to take a back seat to the Steelers and the 49ers after that loss. It's like 3 steps forward but 4 backwards, towards "greatest franchise ever".
But they still have a few more years. They're going to be a power house again next year and a SB win or dare I say it a 19-0 season (which isn't out of the realm of possibility), would certainly put them up there again in the ranking of all time franchises.
