The United States is not based on capitalism or democracy, it is based on freedom. Democracy and capitalism are used because they ensure the greatest degree of freedom, as far as we have determined. If another system provides more freedom (for example, a socialized energy system could ultimately lead to cheaper energy, therefore granting greater freedom), there is nothing in the Constitution preventing the change.
We face the problems we do because of a rapidly deteriorating education system. The people fail to understand the basic tenets of this nation, while the government succeeds in exploiting this failure. Even further down, we face these problems because of malignant brain-complexes people have traditionally been 100% unaware of.
