In my area gasoline for 87 octane is already $3.45/gal and they are predicting it will easily top $4/gal by June. This is not a lot of money, but it's enough to keep ratcheting up the hurt...

People don't care about the future because they think it doesn't impact them directly in the foreseeable future - they just focus on the here and now. As long as our lawns are nice and green, free of weeds that's all that matters.
