Most psychiatrists are wrong, or incomplete. From what I can tell, it is the result of new science mixed with business and the desire to 'help' (stemming from the flawed medical philosophy known as - everything 'abnormal' is an illness of the body).
Actual liberalism is fine, when used correctly. If you say, there should be less 'government parenting', it is equally true to say there should be more individual independence.
Obviously this particular psychiatrist was either payed, or a deeply slanted individual. Expanding independence is a liberal ideology, as much as expanding dependence is the same. It all depends on the coin, and what side you see (the biased only see one side). In the same sense, contracting government parenting = expanding individual independence.
