 Well I was playing online with him at the time and I wasn't actually connecting it to what you said (I consider pool to be a game, not sport). I believe there is some truth to some viewing their religion as a spectator sport. In the other thread, my suggestion was self-exploration...which precludes spectators for the most part. Yet, after someone has remembered themselves, they tend to be on display (often misunderstood too).
Come to think of it, most everything in our american society has become like a spectator sport. Which is probably why will still have "losers" and less cooperation for the benefit of all.

There are lots of things about religion that I really don't want to throw away. Spirituality is one of them. A sense of community is another. Tradition to a certain extent. Literal interpretation and blind faith are the main things I think should go. They are childish. We should try and not be childish, but at the same time have a child-like inquisitiveness
