Actually, no he's dead wrong. Al-Qaeda was an outgrowth of the first
Sandbox Storm, when Usama raged against U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia and the Saudi government turned down Usama's offer to wage terrorism against the Iraqis in Kuwait. Al-Qaeda ["The Base" in Arabic] has its earliest origins with the final withdraw of Soviet forces from Afghanistan and steadily mutated into the al-Qaeda born in 1990.
