Why does this law apply to Medicaid recipients and not self pay and private ins. pts.? Because Medicaid pts. have a tendency to copy prescriptions and have them filled illegally. Yet the law abiding practitioners are liable. Not the lowlifes committing fraud.
My solution: I will no longer write narcotic prescriptions for Medicaid pts. Antibiotics only. On whatever paper the feds want.
This new ruling will only further chase practitioners away from accepting Medicaid.
