Even on auto, a sunny day will give you the desired result. Use S setting...shutter preferred. You can set a fast speed, and the camera will choose your aperture setting.

No, mine haven't begin the mating yet, as they are all still "arriving". Last year I had about three dozen, so far four have shown up. I feel they are returning because when they first showed up they zoomed right to where I had a feeder on the porch post (which wasn't up yet this year).
