Something in the water in NY

I believe there must be something in the water in NY.

Before our new governor, David Paterson will get to enjoy his new title, he may be out of his new job.

He has admitted to having an extramarital affair, or 3. His wife also had an affair during a time when their marriage was shaky.

So far, no problem.

It seems now, however, that Paterson gave favors to one of the women, in the form of a cushy job. As well, it seems that he used campaign money to rent the hotel rooms, during these affairs.

Ironic is the fact that if Paterson is shown the door, Joe Bruno will be the new, new, new governor.

Bruno was investigated, and persecuted by Spitzer for his own brand of scandal. As a result, the Bruno/Spitzer spat caused gridlock in the NY legislature.

And the saga continues....

National Ledger - Sex Scandal Grows: Secret Tapes, Diane Dixon, David & Michelle Paterson

The claim is that she received a job via the new governor. In the Post she is quoted, "I'm a single mom with a child. I need this job." According to the Post Dixon, 43, said Paterson, 53, was "mostly responsible" for getting her the badly needed job earlier this month with the city Department of Education. The job pays somewhere between fifty and sixty five thousand dollars a year. Oh the humanity!

Joe Bruno to assume powers of a lt. governor; gets key vote in Albany

However, Bruno will assume the powers of a lieutenant governor, including the ability to cast a deciding vote in the event of a tie in the Senate. He would also act as governor if Paterson is out of state or incapacitated.

If Paterson isn't able to complete the rest of Eliot Spitzer's term, the Senate majority leader becomes governor, and a new majority leader, if one has been elected, would then be next in line of succession
