I was given a dead 21" Gateway LCD, and looked into having it repaired. You may have seen it briefly on my webcam. But I've decided to go new and bigger. It would have only been a stop gap measure anyway.
Buying locally I need it by this weekend (taking an online course and this loaner is terrible for reading).
Local retail choices I've been looking at (copy and pasted from another forum):
Choices:
1.Sceptre 24" W DVI/VGA
2ms 4000:1
300 cd/mē
1920 x 1200 WUXGA
$299.99: Too good to be true?
2.24" Samsung Widescreen LCD Monitor
# 5ms response time
# 1000:1 contrast ratio
# 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
# 400 cd/s3 brightness
$399.87: Good name, love most of their products
3.HannsG 28" Wide
True 1080P with HDMI
3ms
800:1
500 cd/m2
$499.99: New brand never heard of em, good specs for the money though.
4.ViewSonic 28" W
True 1080P with HDMI
3ms
800:1
500cd/m2
599.99: Another familar name in monitors but I always considered ViewSonic to be the "cheap" version when it came to CRTs, don't know if that still stands for LCD's.
5.Gateway - 24" FHD2400
3 ms response
1000:1
400 cd/mē
$549.99 Seen this monitor my buddy has one very nice, but pricey in comparison. The PIP looks cool but I might not use it.
6.HP Pavilion w2408h
2000:1
400cd/m2
5-millisecond
$499.99: A tad pricey for a 24", but I love HP styling and own one of their plasmas and love it.
7.-Inc iF-281DPB 28"
3ms
Brightness and Contrast Ratio not available?
$539.99: No idea what to think of this thing.
8. LG - 26" W2600H-PF
5 ms
5000:1
300 cd/mē
$599.99: Great name in LCD and Plasma screen construction, new to the market.
9. ViewSonic 28" VX2835wm
800:1
500cd/m2
3ms
$599.99: As before it's VeiwSonic which I've always been wary of, but I suppose they've been around for a while for a reason.
I'll try and check this thread tonight when I get home for any suggestions or warnings.
Thanks people.............
