From my understanding, it's preventative.
I go to the Farmer's Market to get organic chicken - taste better and doesn't have that wretched stench either.
I think they sell organic beef at the market too, if not I know there's some place around town that do. I also get my eggs from the Farmer's Market - also organic. My mom started asking me to get them for her as well because they also taste better and don't stink.
