Excerpt
NEW ORLEANS - Imagine that your home was reduced to mold-covered wood framing by Hurricane Katrina. Desperate for money to rebuild, you engage in a frustrating bureaucratic process, and after months of living in a government provided-trailer that gives off formaldehyde fumes you finally win a federal grant.
Then a collector announces that you have to pay back thousands of dollars.
For thousands of Katrina victims, this may be a reality.

When do these poor people get a break?

I am actually going down there in May for a week for some pro bono work. We are going to help get those poor people out of the FEMA death trailers. I am going to take interview, on site/ off, probably inspect sites. >,< it makes me so mad!!! I wish we could sue the pants off of FEMA for being so inefficient and craptastic! Its so funny cause when those wild fires happened people weren't lving in asbestos toxic trailers. No they used their AmEx gold card to stay at the Holiday inn.
Unfortunately that pesky municipal immunity doesn't allow us to sue the city of New Orleans for allow people to build their homes in unsafe area -.-. **shakes fist** no justice for the weak or poor in this country (or people who don't know people on the zoning board).
