I never liked Japanese aircraft design. Soviet planes could do anything Nips could and then some, plus as a bonus, Soviets did not explode when hit in the tanks. British, Soviets and Japanese shared air fighting philosophy, with Soviets having the best planes of all three. Americans and Germans had the same philosophy... With Germans having better planes, but Americans having more of them.

American/German philosophy was superior to the British/Soviet/Japanese though.
