It's interesting that in the US there are something like 125 million houses. Now not all houses have enough exposed dirt to plant a vegetable garden, but even if we assume half of them do, this says there is no reason why 60 million homes cannot have a producing vegetable garden. I'll go way out on a limb for some of my naysayers on this site and further assume that 5 million of these houses have residents who are considered to live in poverty. I wonder how many of them understand how to buy some seeds, dig some dirt, add some water, and in no time there are healthy vegetables to eat?? It's a rhetorical question but my answer will be like 12. Of course I'm being facetious but my point is that if people in the ever-powerful and all-knowing USA cannot figure this out, then why do so many of us believe all these people in these very remote and poverty stricken areas will magically have the capabilities?
BTW, if I was Ted Turner, and I owned thousands of square miles of land, I would plant corn or whatever and flood the markets with it including giving it away for free...are you listening Ted??
