Actually, there was a tribe in New Guinea that practiced polyandry. I'm not sure if they still exist. Of course, in that tribe, the men stayed at home with the kids and worried about their hair and the women were the warriors (I'm not making this up).
I don't know why women put up with patriarchal bullshit. Though I suppose it has to do with physical strength unfortunately. If I was a woman, I wouldn't stand for it, and I'd be a lesbian.
