Cave-man hunters... they still exist. Today, they create their own caves. We see most of these caves in the form of houses and buildings.
If we wanted to, on this planet, we could eliminate all predatory species (carnivores). We would then be able to shift our own ways from hunters to mere gatherers. There is no real competition in gathering when numbers and sizes are kept low, and one has mastered the art of farming (plus the other stuff, like refrigeration, transportation and manufacturing).
