As the US might be affected by global warming, and/or the availability of more water in dryer areas, it seems perfectly logical that at some point, that the USA and other nations, will require man-made canals to distribute water. Whether the water comes from deep wells, or reservoirs holding rain and snow melt, or from desalinization of the oceans, it must be distributed hundreds and thousands of miles. Such projects will cost billion$ or trillion$, but these costs can be shared by private enterprise and from taxation, and they would provide tens of thousands of jobs for decades to come. Further, by having available water in remote areas, this will tend to even out the population masses that exist today.
