Probably, but it's far from the only one. At the onset of WWI many generals tried to fight the war as if they were still in the 19th century, forgetting the imrpovements in artillery accuracy as well as other innovations like the machine gun. Some weapons brought to bare in WWI were simultaineously ahead of their time yet still to primative to be used effectively. Others just weren't well understood by commanders such that they could be used to their fullest effect though the weapons themselves worked just fine.
However, there's been few new takes on WWI in movies that I'd be compelled to watch another one.
