Re. talking to ourselves, I wandered into Maher accidently years ago. My first board, I found it cathartic to find likeminded people.
This, after suffering through a handful of years of total bullshit on the news, regarding the invasion of Iraq, and the mess that followed.
First it was about WMD's, then it was about spreading Democracy, blah, blah, blah. We all knew it was bullshit from the word go. When the media is too chickenshit to tell the truth (it's easy to forget now, that we were living through McCarthyism 2 back then) you go crazy listening to the constant barage of lies.
Sometimes, we need the affirmation from our peers, that we haven't totally lost our minds. I notice that a scant few, if any, change their view of anything on these boards. I am happy to say that I've had my eyes opened to a few things over the last 2 years, that (however grudgingly) I have come to accept as "right".
Once in a while you get shown the light

Good points............ Speaking strictly for myself I have changed some of my views but what has changed most I believe is my perspective over the last year or so.........
I believe most ppl here (or anywhere for the most part) are not open to changing their mind.. Arguing, making/scoring points pushing ones agenda & stopping the other guyZ agenda is what is done most of the time.... Good clear & precise "sound bites"
are merely countered by other clear & precise "sound bites"
........
I come here mostly to be entertained but engage in all of the above like everyone else.. Sometimes I will start a thread to explore the topic/idea etc rather that to put it out there as the truth or fact.. Getting different opinions pro & con helps me form my own opinions.
Not sure I could have said all this in a sound bite but I am working on it.....lol
