Not really.
During the Rodney King riots, I could see the fires from my bedroom balcony. Not that there wasn't key real estate and plenty of police and National Guard between me and the bedlam, which occurred in the rioters' own neighborhoods...I was in no danger whatever from the riots.
But I could see it. That's how close what used to be called ghettos but I think that's not PC, that's how close socioeconomically oppressed and racially segregated turfs typically are to people whose lives are literally as different as white is to black.
I draw attention again to how many of our National Guard resources have been diverted to Iraq.
That riots are unlikely is a statistical matter. We don't usually have riots, no matter what. What we've had SOME riots. What's the plan? We NEVER seen to have any contingency plans.
Or maybe "they" DO have contingency plans. Maybe this whole thing is right on schedule.
It is continually a mystery to me that we attribute such diabolical wizardry to neoconservatives, then arrogantly presume that Democratics...notably ineffective politicians...have suddenly got the upper hand. We say that the media is a whore to big business and a pimp for big government, then continue to listen to them tell us what's what.
