The first role of good government is to provide services that we cannot individually provide for ourselves, usually because those services have such a hefty pricetag it takes a collective body to pay for them.
For example, national defense at the federal level, police and fire protection at the local level.
Followed closely by being cautious, practical and honest stewards of our tax money.
