I'll probably be the only positive reply you get on this subject, lol. I love snakes, and I have pet snakes. (One rescue, one 'spensive one)
This past summer DH called me over to where I broadcast wild bird food around our front yard big Red Oak. He said "Look". I looked, nothing. I kept looking until I finally saw his eyes. A 5-6' Timber Rattler (aka Canebreak Rattler) had coiled and shimmied his way down into the leaves as a disguise. You couldn't see that joker! Had I been spreading bird food I would most likely have stepped on him and gotten nailed.
I hand caught him, and we hopped in the car and released him a few miles away. Man, he was fat! Feeding on my poor little Cardinals, no doubt.
Last week I was sitting on the front porch (not screened), and a nice sized Ga. Kingsnake slithered up. I caught her and called DH to look at her. They are colored so different from our Fl. Kings. These Ga. Kings are just black & yellow...no red. I let her go on her way off the porch.
A few days ago a good sized Copperhead slithered up while I was gardening. She got away before I could catch her.

She's up under the house, and I'm not happy. I move venomous snakes due to having so many dogs that think they are playtoys.
Ahhh, living deep in the woods..LOL!
I'd LOVE to see a Florida Black Snake right now!
