Rev Wright was toned down this morning. Smiling. He invited others to learn more about the black religious tradition. Hey Rev, white folks aint interested in the black community. It is a one way street with most of them. And it is us who have to cross the track.
Our friendly, neighborhood RK77 put it very well in referencing his NAACP speech:
"There are whites who are threatened by this man. I think they project onto his words the way they act. They would "hate" people who treated them like they have treated us so they presume that if we are reminded about their history of atrocity we must hate them. It is sad."
He was calm this morning. He basically read his statement and did not 'perform.' Of course, like Michael Eric Dyson, Wright is a scholar but knows how to deliver a dynamic 'black' performance. And although blacks have seen Wright in almost every black pulpit on every Sunday morning, whites are acting like they 'discovered' something unique. Not 'good' unique either. Wright is being attached to Obama at the hip even though Barack is running away from Wright as fast and as respectfully as he can.
So Wright will be dissected all day today. Yet Wright has now said that the attack is not on him but on the BLACK CHURCH. He just upped the ante.

I am astounded! You do have a brain!!!
Well written and right to the point.
The reason why Rev Anthony AND Rev Wright are saying that this is about the black church is because crazy whites have now begun to extrapolate their hostilities to ALL Black Churches.
Why----because Hillary agreed to on April 16th, 2008!
MR. GIBSON: Senator Clinton, let me -- I'm sorry, go ahead. Senator Clinton, let me follow up, and let me add to that. You have said that he would not have been my pastor, and you said that you have to speak out against those kinds of remarks, and implicitly by getting up and moving, and I presume you mean out of the church.
There are 8,000 members of Senator Obama's church. And we have heard the inflammatory remarks of Reverend Wright, but so too have we heard testament to many great things that he did. Do you honestly believe that 8,000 people should have gotten up and walked out of that church?
SENATOR CLINTON: I was asked a personal question, Charlie, and I gave a personal answer. Obviously, one's choice of church and pastor is rooted in what one believes is what you're seeking in church and what kind of, you know, fellowship you find in church. But I have to say that, you know, for Pastor Wright to have given his first sermon after 9/11 and to have blamed the United States for the attack, which happened in my city of New York, would have been intolerable for me. And therefore I would have not been able to stay in the church, and maybe it's, you know, just, again, a personal reflection that regardless of whatever good is going on -- and I have no reason to doubt that a lot of good things were happening in that church -- you get to choose your pastor. You don't choose your family, but you get to choose your pastor. And when asked a direct question, I said I would not have stayed in the church.
Hillary Clinton gave the racists of America to extrapolate this issue to all of the members of the congregation. The media has given them permission to lump all black churches together.
Hillary Clinton implies that the 8000 people of the congregation did not care about 9/11. She invoked it. She was asked about it.
Bush has created a "for us or against us" mindset.
Rev Anthony and Rev Wright are acting on the same things that those in the black faith communities are hearing about. Bomb threats and death threats. Not just for Wright anymore.
People kept their children out of Sunday school here this weekend.
There was only ONE responsible answer for Hillary to give---that was "NO!" She did not and in that moment she gave all crazy's a signal that it was okay to act.
With the press nightly stoking the fire there are likely to be bombings soon.
Accessories before the fact. Complicit in the murder of innocents.
The white folks have created a new Jim Crow regulation and it is being enforced by terrorism.
It goes beyond Wright and Obama---that was all the cover people like your buddy boy need.
Have you seen any of the usual suspects here DENOUNCE or REPUDIATE the notion that black worship should require the seal of approval of the white community? Have you NOT seen your buddies throwing Hitler and Bin Laden into the mix? You've been there and done that (and you actually have defended and encouraged it here).
They will post some bullshit feigned disapproval when children lie dead in pews. They will believe that's all they need to do. Will you feel the same?
