I am definitely pro-Israel, but aside from that, I think the U.S. should be supporting democracy in the region. It has always been bad policy to turn our back on our supporters, and we are still paying the price for Carter's fuck-up with Iran back in the 70's.
Imagine what the region would be like today if we had a strong country like Iran that was pro West....the Shah understood his Arab neighbors, and with his military might, would have kept them in check. For this reason, I can never forgive Jimmy Carter...he let that nation fall to ruin and we have a militant anti-U.S. theocracy in power threatening Israel and the world.
Way to go Jimmy. Ya should have stayed on the peanut farm.
