Fast forward to today -- Karl Rove now works for McCain. What
father, adoptive or otherwise, would forgive anyone who made his
child the focus of a political smear campaign.

(There may be more to this story. The little girl, adopted from

Maybe she was a political liability.)
There are several aspects of this that bother me quite a bit.

In 2000, I wasn't enamored of John Mccain, but I did have some grudging respect for him. He seemed to be beyond the sloganeering and came across as more genuine, than almost any Repub I'd ever seen.

The Bushies smeared him, and derailed him in despicable ways, usually reserved for Dems. And he seemed to be better than them, above all that.

But he's reversed every position I ever admired him for taking. And he's completely adapted the Bushco trappings and backers and positions.

This man is willing to wear any mask that puts him in the White House. And clearly, he has no values that would prevent him from selling his soul, to get there.
