I think its getting clearer that the goal all along was to establish a permanent military presence in Iraq, in order to have control over the resources.
Unfortunately, the forces that started this shit have had a very long time and spent alot of money to weave and neccessitate our presence into the future of Iraq. It wont be as simple as packing our shit and leaving. Ive heard that we dont even know where everybody is, who all is there, etc.
How about all the corporations that are currently operating over there? After all, it would seem that if Iraq is "free", that the companies making money arent going to want to leave.
As with many flawed decisions, there comes a time when you recognize a money pit for what it is, and focus your efforts elsewhere.
Part of all of this is that we are spending millions on sortees from aircraft carriers that can precisely drop a smart bomb on an apartment building that has no power, no fresh water, no sanitation. A ridiculous waste of resources, and ignorant apathy toward healing Iraqi perception.
I think the mindset for an exit strategy needs to be what this should have been ALL ALONG.....a humanitarian effort.
