This article is pretty fair so far it goes, but it's obviously lacking in other critical ecological details and a couple issues of technology. First, the fact the ethanol is still a combustion fuel it means that burning it causes still more CO2 [this aside from the mention of the energy needed to make it]. It also burns hotter, using up more fuel per mile [or 1.609 km] of distance and wears down engine parts faster.

The larger technological issue which this and other articles sidestep with gross irresponsibility is that electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are- by far, the vastly superior option without exception. ZERO emissions of greenhouse gas and hydrogen can best be made from water not from natural gas or other fossil fuel sources. The only question of what energy is used to charge cars or produce the hydrogen already has a solution, that being nuclear energy alongside other greener sourcese like solar, wind, tidal and biomass as suppliments.

The fact that no one's publically discussing it tells me this issue has yet to be taken seriously.
