As to man, and specifically the American variety, being excluded is old hat. We've done it for religious affiliations, political leanings, race, and economic position.

My reply was to the fact that inhumane treatment of bioengineered critters would be the norm IF you extrapolate from the treatment we currently use for our foodstocks and lab needs.

My wonderings were to what extent that ownership + need + easy/cheap access = slavery and worse if patents and clone technologies ever cross into the human being business.
