As for designer children we should be so lucky. Not only new children, but those already born could be augmented with genes which code for enzymes that produce valuable amino acids and vitamins. Gene insertion to enhance people's immune systems thus truly defeated malaria, typhus, dysentary and other diseases which kill a major fraction of third world children.
You're still assuming a negative-only scenario. That's not even realistic.

long term consequences of these actions/options.........
You are all on board for designer kids. Fine one day when you have kids keep it in mind.........
But also keep in mind that that it has not been tested on ppl for generation after generation...... Hopefully your great, great grandchildren will also believe you made the right choice...
There are obvious upsides for ppl & Monsanto............ It is the unknown downside that is overlooked.............
