I lived in MAryland for a long tme, and had cousins in WV.They commuted to work to DC, or worked in coal mines, and factorys.

Funny thing is - there is veyr little racial tension - nothing like Philly, or other Northern cities.
But you wouldn't know that, instead , you rely on anecdotal reporters.
