A couple days ago I watched a documentary at one of these science TV channels, about how the chinese have been replanting-reforresting the north east territory as apparently the Gobi desert is invading hundreds of miles year by year, it even is getting close to Beijing they say. Well these guys have been fighting the issue ever since 1978. Not that I am a commy, but it sure makes you think of who really fights this damn excess of garbage we all are throwing.

The communist government has only done a few token gestures on it themselves, so don't think they're that far ahead. Also, there have been states which started abiding by Kyoto and cities as well. You got Bloomberg creating a coalition of U.S. cities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions below what Kyoto requires.
