My favorites:
Stand up concerts:
Tie: "Back in Town" (1996) and "You're all diseased" (1999). These two shows, I feel, caught George at his peak. Perfect combination of big world and small world humor. He was just really on his A game in these two shows. Really had a rythm.
In Back in Town, he starts off with, "Why...why...why is it that these anti abortion people are people you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?" The roof came off that arena.
Films: Dogma.
Books: While all 3 of them were vintage George, his first, Brain Droppings (1997), was by far the best. Those of you who haven't read any of his books really don't know what you're missing. He goes back and forth between big world political essays (hilarious, all of them), and just hilarious stupid little shit, ideas and fictional stories. Out of the 3, Brain droppings has the most material not covered in his shows and albums.
As far as tv appearances and albums, I'll let somebody a little older than me weigh in on it. I pretty much grew up when he was already a big HBO star.
