Philosophically, I don't really understand why the USA needs to be involved in the Middle East? What did we get for all the deaths, injuries and trillion$ spent in Iraq?? What can we possibly get if we start the same with Iran??
If things are so bad in Iraq or Iran, why not let Russia, and Europe, and neighboring nations deal with them?
Why can't the US put most of it's resources into nations which can either directly or indirectly have some pay-back? What if the US would have started forty years ago working closely with Mexico, where would Mexico be today, and what payoff would the US have seen? When I think about the scope of power and importance that China and India will soon have, I think silly things like the US should merge with Mexico and Canada forming one larger nation better equipped to compete on the grand scales of the world stage. And I think of opposite positions where the US places 98% priority on domestic issues and 2% on international affairs and to do this until we get our act together.
But then I realize I am dreaming...that in the USA we don't do anything until our asses are on fire, and even then we want someone or something else to solve all our issues for us...
