This deejay died a few years later and when the anniversary of his birth came around one of his fellow deejays said he was going to play his former associate's favourite song and pay the fine ... it wasn't Parsons but rather Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers doing a song called "Midnight Choir" which included the line: "Do they have Mogen David in Heaven, sweet Jesus, if not who the Hell wants to go." Tonight I'm listening to Parsons with his band the Flying Burrito Brothers. And it reminded me of this little story.
I listen to Sirius Sattellite radio and they feature some great indie unsigned bands. My favorite station is the CBC music station. Great music comming out of canada. And there is a band called "Telescreen" from winston/salem nc who have come up with an extremely novel way of marketing their music. (Users who buy the digital album, and get others to purchase the music are actually payed by the band and it's not just a percentage either. They get the whole cost of the 5.99 download. They also contribute proceeds to help people being sued by the RIAA.

They are one of my favorite up and coming bands. The songs are amazing, and even cooler: The musicians produced/engineered/mixed/and mastered the songs by themselves, and it sounds incredible.
