King: Upset Special?
It's a bold guarantee from a player who's not exactly a boldface name. Adding additional hype to this Sunday's game against the Patriots in Foxboro, Steelers defensive back Anthony Smith is guaranteeing a win. "People keep asking me if we're ready for the Patriots," Smith said on Wednesday. "They should be asking if they're ready for us. We're going to win. Yeah, I can guarantee a win." For the record, Smith (left) is a second-year pro out of Syracuse. He became the starter at free safety only after Ryan Clark needed spleen surgery in late October. Now he is front and center for a game that looks on paper to be one of the two remaining tests (along with the Giants) for the Pats in the regular season. By the way, Smith does have some support, including SI's Peter King. "Just a gut feeling," says King. "The strain of going for perfection seems to be wearing on New England, while Pittsburgh is just bullyish enough not to fear the enormity of Sunday's stage." King's prediction: Steelers, 27, Patriots 20.
