They were once useful for computer parts. HardDrives, powersupplies, Vcards and Soundcards, that sort of thing. But since the upsurge in online stores for these things (NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, MWave etc), there's really no reason to go to a COMPUSA.

The only time I go there is when I can't wait for the shipping of something I need. I browse around, but never buy anything when I go there.

Computer stuff isn't a tangible type product people need to see. It's all stats and specs that drive the preference of one item vs. another. I don't need to see a Vcard anymore to appreciate it or like it. I know what I need, what I want, and what I can afford. If I can get it cheaper online, I'm going to do it.

As for all the other stuff they sell (now), cameras, TVs, even whole PCs they've always been out of their league. BestBuy, Circuit City, and other stores are much better at displaying and selling those products then COMPUSA.
