Divorce happens, and I don't think very many people enter into marriage with the intention of divorcing if things don't pan out...at least they didn't used to. A few decades ago, people who married intended to work on problems, not bail at the first sign of trouble.
Goodness, I knew a young woman (rhymes with witch) who married a guy she didn't really love, and 10 months after dad coughed up $25,000 for his little angel's wedding, she rented a u-haul and cleaned out the apartment while the guy was at work. He came home to a phone book and the telephone in the middle of the empty apartment. (All the furniture and stuff was his, with exception of the numerous wedding gifts). The reason, it was discovered later, was because he failed to buy her a red mustang convertible for her birthday.
