Younger women in their late thirties and forties can have peri-menopause where they find they have shorter periods..5 days instead of seven. Less of a flow each month, etc. When I was 48, I began having 3 day periods and I loved that!
Then came the hot flashes which are different for everyone. At night I'd be so overheated I'd perspire, toss and turn, then the next morning, I'd be cold.

I didn't have the bad mood swings (trust me PMS is ten times worse...I could have killed someone)

But, I did feel hungry more for salty and sweet foods. I bought some oil of primrose in capsule form and it took me all the way through with shiny hair, strong nails, and hot flashes less often. By the time I was 50, it had been 6 months since my last period, and by 51, it had been a year. I am 56 now and haven't had to worry since, but my friend who is one month older than me is still having regular periods. She's not even begun her menopause yet.
