To many of the heart recipients it clearly is. To me it's only spiritual in the sense that all things, living and inanimate, are connected regardless [my octopus analogy that roughly parallels the Indra's Net of Gems thing]. However, this interpretation leaves no data trail for science to work with.

Even though donor organs are checked for their compatibility with recipients that's not to say personalities could be, if there were possible and still have effective transplant procedures.
