Oh I agree he's got talent.
I don't dislike him because of the role the NHL has placed on him. Even dislike is too heavy a word, I just not a "fan". I just enjoy, respect and admire the more traditional North American style player. Which he is obviously a hybrid of that, but one fight isn't going to endear him to many Boston area fans.
He's a marvel to watch and has guts for a guy his size, but he's not what the NHL should be promoting. I think they've tried to apply the individual stardom method of player worship as a marketing tool, but is not a reflection of how the game is actually played.
IMO (and I could care less actually if the league is never or not nearly as big as any of the other majors), they should have promoted the history, ruggedness, and some what lawlessness of the league. But maybe that's because those are the things that I love about the league.
