Re: golf courses. They do eat up a lot of water, that is true. A question: let's say, there were no golf courses, and that land was redeveloped as a (sub)urban community. Would that increase or decrease overall water consumption? Those rich people playing golf may be a blessing in disguise to the local aqifier.

Much of California is in a similar situation as for ground water......... They pump it up like the supply is endless..........
