Most waterfalls, or water features at golf courses use a cycled water system. Much like a fountain, it's the same water over and over again.
But it does cause it to evaporate faster.
I like to golf, although I haven't actively gone out in a few years, so I'm kind of torn. It is a monumental waste of land and resources for a "game". Just because there's a market that will support it, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do either.
