Try to use complementary colors, and don't introduce any more then 3 main colors. You can do more but it's tough to make it look right. In this circumstance anyway.

Here's a good page that has an HTML color picker so you can go through a larger spectrum of colors and it will give you the code (the numbers and letters with the # sign preceding it).
HTML color codes: about half way down the page is a pallete box that can be manipulated and the code is generated.
The colors are like I said complementary so that's good. Girls (with out sounding too sexist) should be good at this, they like and understand colors and how they effect style and presentation.
