Am I wrong to conclude since most all of the CT timing of the fall has been tied directly to the moments the top floors of WTC 7 "dissappear" in the dust cloud, and not the entire collapse (top of WTC 7 falling onto its footprint), the CT people got their spurious timing?
That is:
since we do not (cannot) see the bottom 20 floors collapse, just the dissappearance of the top of WTC 7, their timing is off by 20 floors.

I covered the demolition of 17 buildings as a beat reporter. Buildings much shorter than WTC 7 took much longer to collapse than what most of the WTC 7 films show, each of them having been wired corner to corner for controlled demolition.

Another question: in each of the demolitions I witnessed, there was a buffer/safety zone established which was wide enough it required the use of my 300mm or 400mm prime lenses (sometimes both.)
You had to start shooting the instant the squibs went off or you'd miss the beginning of the fall, critical when timing the total collapse.
The one thing I became familiar with was looking for the smoke from the "squibs" (interior cutting charges which go off mini-seconds before the main charges go), the squibs actually directing the fall of each section.
Usually, the interior charges go off first, long mili-seconds before the building begins its collapse.

I do not recall engineering film ever being released to the public from WTC 7, and for good reason: none was made, which is an oddity in that these guys like to look at their work meaning each (every) conntrolled demolition is recorded on tape/film/disk by the contracting firm for its records, "controlled demolition" the operative phrase.
