That was quite a Pantheon they had to keep up with. So basically the Romans adhered to the Etruscan belief system. They (romans) were very superstitious, saw signs everywhere, as in the flight of birds, etc. Nero never made a move without consulting his soothsayers first.
There are many similarities in most ancient religions of varying cultures. And as I see it, they all sought to understand existance. And attempted to placate nature.
