We found a little break in some thicket and paddled through. We came out in a clearing, and some crazy Russian dude from NYC came running out of his back door, claiming I was on his property.
So, here I am, trying to tell him that I'm in the lake, and not on his property. Mind you, I'm the proverbial sitting duck, in my kayak.
So, he tells me that he's going to shoot me if I don't get off his property. I tell him again, that I'm in the lake, and he starts running to his house (presumably to get his gun.)
Did you ever see a kayak, throw up a rooster tail?!!!! Mine did.
I came back a short while later with a state trooper. He was gone...probably went back to the city a little earlier than he had planned to.

Never had that happen........... Here in Calif even if the river or lake is on your property they have free easement in the water.......
I was kayaking down the Feather river two years ago & one of the fishermen I was paddling by asked us (about eight of us) if anyone (annoyed fishermen having to lower their lines I guess he meant) ever threw rocks @ us........... I said no that is why we carry a gun........
He didn't say anything more after that..........
Later we got a good laugh out of it.... The look on his face was priceless..........lol (& we don't kayak armed....
