They are. Greek = Appollo, Roman = Adonis, Greek = Aphrodite, Roman = Venus, and so on.
There are alot of similarities in most of the ancient Pantheons. The names were different, but the description of the Gods and their functions are basically the same.
You have your Father God, who has a Mate, who is the Mother Goddess. And then there is their offspring, who are always getting in trouble.
Perhaps the Gods of our ancient ancestors were an extension/projection of themselves?
