Last week I got a 3 inch gash thanks to a boarder coming down a black ,and slammed in to me from the side, out of control, which I got sewed up,
I'm always amazed at how many boarders sit in groups, not riding , often in the middle of the piste (very uncool, and against the skier's code). The percentage of boarders I see who ride in control and carve an edge rather than sliding down the mountain is small, very small. I don't see much fun in that.
My question is this: is this just a local thing at Alyeska, where I ski, or do others experience the same?

That happens alot here in NY. Many snowboarders here don't care who they run into. They just play it off like nothing occured. But again, they are the ones with higher injury rates and complaints, well at least here. I lost count of how many times snowboarders have been whisked away by the ski patrol, on the stretcher, for trying things they knew they couldn't do. Broken backs and legs seem to be the most popular. They also are the ones that got many of the trails closed for a bit, due to recklessness. Don't get me wrong, there are some great riders, but they are far and few between.
