I go to a lot of parties with my spouse's WASP family. At every single party someone will eventually walk up to me with a big grin on their face and ask me what my relationship is with the family. I vary the response depending on my mode. The other day at the 80th birthday party of Jeff's Step Grandmother it of course happened and I responded with "I'm Jeff's "Partner". This always brings on the next question..."Oh, are you in the Department too then?" which I say, "Oh, no....we've lived together for twenty years." I love to watch them back away slowly.
I remember when I was introduced to his other Grandmother (the fucking crazy bitch) after everyone walked away she came up to me and told me that she had mace in her purse. She died alone in her waste while her nurse searched the house for the car keys after being manipulated into leaving all her money to the health care worker. No one will tell me where she is buried because I want to dance on her grave.
