I too am skeptical about a God that transcends life and death really being concerned about our current existence. However I do believe in the teachings of Jesus as a guidebook to living in society.
I admit to my limitations, mistakes and accept responsibility for them. So if there is a God in the biblical sense I will face him and he can judge.
I was thinking though, wouldnt it be a real irony if there was a biblical God, who gave us his son and we used his name as a banner for evil. This is a God who allegedly wiped out cities and people as punishment for their sins against him.
Now if God were real, the Rapture was inevitable and I was a member of one of these institutions I would be worried. The Earth is really a beautiful place, it could be a paradise if the idolaters and war mongers were to be removed, like chaff from wheat.....
Man was made in God's image, so would God follow a false prophet ? Could God accept one of his children who did ?
I do not believe that institutional Christians believe in God, if they did they would obey his teachings......
